Lazy Sunday Afternoon
Nov. 9th, 2008 03:06 pmMy mum woke me up this morning via the telephone, and we chatted a while. She's going back to University classes, which is great, and she and dad are back to their usual relationship, playing cards and working in the garden together. My dad can be so clingy and needing love, but he doesn't admit it. Men of a certain generation, and all that.
Last night was great, it was definitely worth all the preparations. I had forgotten how much fun it is to cook for friends, and now I want to do it more often. I know I had a lovely time, and it seemed that my guests did, too. The food was not half bad, if I do say so myself, and as the evening progressed, a warm, happy glow descended on me, which I hope was shared.
This morning, I re-discovered the BBC IPlayer, and have been watching a lot of stuff (including Strictly Come Dancing, Merlin, Have I Got News For You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and more), while munching on leftovers and warming myself with the ubiquitous hot water bottle and the not so ubiquitous cider.
If I were a cat, I'd be purring. Life doesn't get much better than this.
