I have a Flickr account.
No - I have a Flickr account I didn't even know about, because I didn't know until tonight that my Yahoo ID is valid for Flickr.
Even though I'm but a humble picture-taker, I can't wait for the broadband to arrive.

Flickr is awesome. Make use of it! I'm surprised at how many people don't know they automatically get a Flickr account if they have a Yahoo email address.

Count me as one of them; I had been thinking I'd like to take a look at Flickr this summer. This seems as though my mind is now made up for me. I feel another time-sink coming on.

I wouldn't have known if I hadn't had a look at it last night. I will use it, but not until I have a slow connection that I pay by the minute for. ;)

The way to make Flickr an interactive and fun experience is to join Pools (aka photosharing groups with particular themes) and post appropriate photos to them. Then comment on other people's photos. They'll come around to check yours out. Etc.

Also, people add you as a contact, but there really isn't the reciprocity issue like there is on Livejournal. As far as I can tell it is far more common to not automatically add someone as a contact. But once you do have contacts (friends whose photos you can view easily like a Friends Page) then it's courteous to go round once in a while and make comments.

Suddenly you find you are part of a community. It's great. And man, good site for photo-hosting, too. I never have trouble with accessing the site.

flickr is simply said a photo-hosting site. However, it feels more like a community of people who make photos. I'm looking forward to exploring it in depth.
