Jul. 9th, 2011 02:02 pmWeekend! About time, too.
It's a beautiful day outside, white fluffy clouds on an otherwise blue sky, with a slight wind keeping me cool as I sit, windows open, listening to the birds and the neighbours calling to each other. I may just have to take a long walk after lunch.
Speaking of walking, apparently there are some walking routes around BiSto, along the river, through woodlands, etc. According to the weather forecast, it's going to be nice tomorrow as well, so there's a chance I'll put on my walking shoes and explore a little. Maybe I'll walk along the river to the next town, have a look around there, and take the bus or train back to BiSto.
Last week was interesting, especially Monday and Tuesday, when
idahoswede was visiting
dadi in Munich and BossLady and I were running the show. Those two days were pretty much a whirlwind, with the hours just blowing past ("It's three o'clock? No wonder I'm hungry!"), but I managed to finish all the dictation BossLady was doing, and carried big stacks of post on both days. Between us we managed to douse the fires, and I got the feeling from BossLady that she was quite pleased.
I almost thought of, wrote, and sent off a short story in the space of two weeks. Sadly, I had misread the instructions regarding the shared premise of the short story anthology, and since my story depended on not only "how" but also on "when", I will have to put that one on the back burner, together with the other, many ideas that percolate there.
Things are moving in SL: Together with my best friend, I have become the co-owner of a homestead. A river dissects it, and I have the east half. Already, there's a pine wood and a birch meadow, a house, a church ruin, a cairn, and a buddha, and three Amaretto horses. My creative streak is telling me to think of things I might make (and possibly sell) - artwork perhaps? We'll see.
And then, teleporting around doing a hunt (it's like an easter egg hunt for free designer items, for those not in SL), I arrived at a place which seemed familiar. Even though I had been there only once before, I remembered the diner/shop where I had been with Jim while we were looking for a wedding present and both of us liked the idea of an exploding toaster.
For the first time, the thought of Jim made me smile, and even though the smile is lined with sadness, it is still a smile.
