tysolna: (nuns with guns)
BT plus: I was finally able to update my BT broadband option to the one where you have unlimited downloads, which is good because, as I don't have a TV any more, I use the internet to watch the telly, and streaming iPlayer, combined with the occasional desktop iPlayer download, that adds up the gigs. Add to that the usual internet activity, and see the bills rise. So, unlimited broadband usage FTW!

BT minus: I have a very old BT router. So old that, when I called the BT helpline to see if anything was wrong with my line - the broadband signal kept dropping up to five, six times an hour (!), making any internet usage pretty much an exercise in frustration - and the helpful person asked me what kind of router I had, all I heard upon my reply was the sort of indrawn breath / hiss combination of surprise and "omg she's using what?". The next thing helpful person said that I should call BT and point the gun at them - new router or one less customer. (This was a BT technical help person who said that, mind!)

Anyway, with the new BT broadband upgrade I got, there is also supposed to be a new BT home hub included. I've seen the picture - it's a slick, sleek black thing, a far cry from my plastic box with LEDs. I have had letters from BT by now detailing my new plan and the direct debit etc. But the new router has yet to arrive.

In the time it took me to write this, the broadband has cut out twice. My ADSL router is on its last legs. I sure hope BT is going to expedite the delivery of the new router, because this is no fun anymore.
