COLOUR film of London, ca. 1927.
It is amazing how much has chanced, yet how much has stayed the same. There are by now familiar landmarks missing from the skyline, but traditions are the same. There are throngs of people, but the clothes are different. It seems like a quieter time, even with the chimneys and motorcars belching, and for some reason I can't imagine lots of car horns honking, because that would scare the horses. And then you start thinking of the next few years, and decades, and what's happened to those people...
... and that it is likely that one day, someone will look at these curiously two-dimensional movies we make of our lives, and wonder the same.
