It has cooled down today to acceptable temperatures, with the occasional rain shower to keep the plants happy. Having said that, the last weeks were, while hot, not uncommonly so for summer; I know I've had hotter times in the past few years, and for longer periods of time, too. But then, that was on the continent.
What I didn't know until I watched the latest episode of Top Gear was that we've had a Level 2 Heatwave declared over England. Wanting to know what to do during a Heatwave, I looked at the relevant NHS page, where I was told to "(e)njoy the weather but try to stay cool. (...) Drink water or fruit juice regularly. (...) Identify the coolest room in the house, so you can go there to keep cool." Similar advice followed.
It's summer, for heaven's sake. Didn't your parents teach you what to do when you're hot? Come to think of it, doesn't your body tell you to stay cool?
I think the Top Gear Boys say it best (and of course, they make their point by playing Car Sauna, a highly enjoyable boy's game, as long as you're not in the car with them).
