There is a lot going on in my life - [livejournal.com profile] idahoswede is on a well-deserved holiday, which means that I'm doing my best to step up to the plate, doing dictations (albeit slowly - I'm working in two foreign languages here, english and legalese), manning the phone, and writing emails as and when neccessary. I can see that there's the potential for stress (especially since I am always worried about making some crucial mistake), but at the moment, it's a darn sight better than working with boxes and old files all day.

Also because [livejournal.com profile] idahoswede is away, I'm making a detour on my way home from work to water her plants. Some of you have seen pictures of her garden, but let me tell you, those pictures don't do reality justice. It's an abundance and riot of plants, flowers, smells and colours, and everything is enthusiastically growing. I feel very much as if I were feeding someone else's dog - I may give him food, but the true owner will also groom him and pick burrs and ticks out of his fur and care for him the way I, being a mere dog-sitter and not a dog person, can't.
I was sitting in that garden for a long time yesterday, and the only thing that I would add - and this is a personal preference - would be a small windchime.

It is still humidly hot. I am so glad that we've moved out of London, because I would not want to have to commute in this heat. Even with all the windows open, and a breeze ruffling our hair and various papers, it's incredibly stuffy in the office. My ankles have turned into elephant trunks which even a cold shower (and a cold footbath) won't relieve. I can deal with heat, if not well, but heat and humidity... It's supposed to rain tomorrow and then cool down to a more reasonable 23°C on Saturday, but given that they said that a week ago as well, I am not holding my breath.

And finally, I've been directed to a weird and terrific TV series: True Blood. At the moment, it feels like Twin Peaks meets Anne Rice. If you're into weird and terriffic (and the American South and Vampires who do not sparkle), check it out.
