Lunch Break Papers
May. 6th, 2009 01:47 pmIt seems I was lucky - the flat next to mine in the same house is being on the market for £100 more than I am paying.
It was incredible last night, I came home at 6 o'clock and had six glorious hours before I went to bed (yep, at midnight). I rearranged my furniture in expectation of the sofa, had a veggie dinner, and then proceeded to read a book three-quarters of the way through. It's Rick Wakeman's autobiography; well, it's more like a collection of weird stories from the life of one of the wildest of prog rock musicians. I read the rest over breakfast this morning, as I was awake even before the alarm clock went off at seven (sleeping until seven, unheard of a month ago!).
Work is ok, somewhat calmer than the first weeks without JS, but I really wish I could speak about her files with the same confidence as I can about the professional files that BossLady and
idahoswede keep. JS's files have this tendency to go walkabout, and even when we've worked on them one day, they disappear the next, and gods only know where they are (sadly, I am not a goddess). JS's computer, too, shows her touch, not just in her filing system, but also in the way it works (sluggish, with a tendency to freeze). I am very tempted indeed to be at the office a half day on the weekend, just to get things in a halfway decent state, from my point of view.
But today, I will go home on time again, and spend the evening reading. Or maybe watching a movie. Or - who knows?
