A fellow of infinite jest
Aug. 4th, 2008 08:11 amA little fannish factoid before I go to work:
Patrick Stewart performed as Claudius before, in the 1980 BBC TV production (I have it at home on VHS tape and am dying to see it again), and he had hair back then. Hamlet was played by the Master, Derek Jacobi (and a wonderful Hamlet he was too, in my opinion somewhat better than Kenneth Branagh), and Ophelia was played by Lalla Ward, aka Romana.
And last night before falling asleep, I managed to reconstruct in my mind the famous Soliloquy which I had learned by heart some two score years ago. Ok, so I missed out half of it (the whole "For who would bear the whips and scorns of time"-bit where he lists all the things opposing him), and stopping at "Thus conscience does make cowards of us all", mostly because I fell asleep.
