I could barely get out of bed today. In fact, I rolled out of bed. Bending over the sink to splash cold water into my face was an excruciating experience, my lower back and the back of my legs down to my knees screaming with pain. Walking was relatively OK, so was standing, but everything else, not so. The sciatic nerve seems to be the culprit. I've probably overstressed something, or it's still from the cold, or whatever, but it's annoying. I'm sitting at my desk with a hot-water bottle against my sacrospinolis and gluteus medius area and the pain's slowly receding; that is, the legs don't hurt any more, only the lower back. Gods I hope it's not a lumbar disc herniation.

Geez. And I'm not even 40 yet.

Depression is a huge part of the season between Thanksgiving and mid January.
It's possible to 'feel better' or not 'feel worse' by following some simple steps. These are not cures, just reminders that sometimes we all need a little extra care.
  • Eat well (better foods with fewer processing chemicals)
  • Sleep better (keep an eye on your sleep patterns)
  • Get some sun every day (if there is no sun, take a walk in the rain)
  • Exercise to stimulate your endorphins
  • Take your vitamins
  • Visit or go look at things that are beautiful (like nature)
  • Avoid toxic people
  • Be good to yourself

It's important to know that how you feel is shared by many people so be nice to other people too but don't get sucked into a pity party.

Get well, be well and remain well! :-D
