Come over, I'll cook for you.
Feb. 9th, 2006 10:31 pmI'm a little behind on a lot of things at the moment, but for today, that is utterly beside the point.
My new kitchen is here. It arrived yesterday, together with two people who spent hours lugging the components upstairs, putting things together and installing that which needed to be installed.
Today, I spent most of my time at home in the kitchen, sorting through my things and stowing them away. There is still a lot of room in all the cupboards. And in the freezer. And in the fridge. I used to have a problem with not having enough space in the kitchen; no more!
I may rave a little about that kitchen in the coming days, weeks even maybe. But I think that next to a comfortable sleeping space / room, the kitchen is the most important room in the house. Here is where people cook, eat, drink, talk, and hopefully are merry. I don't like the small kitchens I've seen in buildings from the 1980s and 1990s, or those the landlords tell you aren't rooms to socialize in (whatever they may mean). I like my kitchens to be warm, smelling faintly of spices, cooking, or freshly baked bread, and filled with smiles and the echoes of laughter.
