Memes and books
Jun. 2nd, 2005 09:54 amI have been meme-tagged by
athenais, and have been trying to come up with the five songs which I listen to a lot and which mean something to me. Thrice, now. And I realized: These days, I listen more to classical than rock music. I used to be able to answer that question quick as a flash; I seem unable to do that now. It's not that there aren't songs, or rather, pieces of music, which mean a lot to me, but...
I will, however, keep this in mind and will answer it as soon as I can.
Someone once commented on my journal that all I seem to do here is talk about the books I read. Looking back, I have not done so for the past twenty entries; so, without further ado, here is the list of books I am reading at the moment.
( cut for length )
... and all of these at the same time.
No wonder I haven't seen Episode III yet. No matter; I bet I know how it ends, anyway.
Edit: The edition of the NAEL I bought today includes a "Media Companion" CD-Rom, which I just started to explore. There are pictures on there, and music for each era discussed, and readings of selected works.
There is a reading of the first 26 lines of Alfred, Lord Tennyson's "Charge of the Light Brigade" on there, read by the author, recorded on an Edison wax cylinder.
Wow. Just - Wow.
