London once more
Jan. 8th, 2005 07:15 amI'm so excited!
Today, there was a huge ad in our newspaper. Air Berlin is offering flights to Vienna, Rome and London for a set price of 29 Euro, one way, which would make a flight to London and back less than 60 Euro. Cheap! And I love London, oh, do I love London. However, I've been there often enough not to get this excited about a flight to London, even though I'm always excited to go to, not least of all because of the lovely people I know there.
But, here is where it gets really great. I've been talking, or rather ranting, to my mum about how much I love the UK for ages. So, when she showed me the ad, I immediately said, OK, mum, it's about time you saw what I've been talking about. Let's go to London for a day or two, and let me show you the place.
And I convinced her! I'm going to fly to London with my mum in March! We'll be staying for two nights, I'll show her the sights, take her on a guided bus tour of the city, maybe visit the Tower, or the British Museum, introduce her to sandwiches, pubs, fish and chips and a pint of John Smith's, see Hyde Park, Big Ben, the Tower Bridge, and do all the touristy things that tourists do. I could be really mean and get her to practice her English, which she has been learning for the past year.
Luckily, she and I share a lot of interests. I'll make a list of possible things to do and discuss it with her. I'm waiting for the travel agents to call me back, and then I'll book a room in a hotel I know from last February.
I'm going to London with my mum. I still can't believe it.
