Sherlock, Omegle, and RPGs.
Jan. 22nd, 2012 11:00 pmOh my gods, this weekend I have discovered the Sherlock (BBC series) fandom on tumblr, I have discovered omegle, and I have discovered that the Sherlock fandom role-plays on omegle, in the form of text messages.
I am not at all surprised that there is such a Sherlock fandom (and "fan" does come from "fanatic" after all), especially after the last episode. Friendship and hurt/comfort are great starting points, and so are certain kinds of instantly quoteable lines (such as "Not my division. GL" or "We're out of milk again. - SH", or the classic "F**k you I won a BAFTA.").
The thing about omegle is that you are chatting anonymously, as Stranger 1 and Stranger 2, so yes, there is a lot of crap going on, but that's when I leave a conversation instantly (unless I start trolling, which I admit to my shame is a hell of a lot of fun).
But the role-playing... My favourite character to be is Sherlock, hands down, and I believe I can do a pretty good Sherlock too. Second favourite, the mad, mad mind of Moriarty.
And I am having so much fun.
