It seems that the cat is developing a tendency to bring his toys home.
Which would be fine if those toys weren't live mice.
At least he showed me where I could find it, hiding underneath some ornamental crockery, and I was able to catch it in a towel and release it back into the wild.
It's a good thing I am not afraid of mice.

Today, I have discovered Northrop Frye. I think I'm in love. Why, I ask myself, are we not told about him in the first or second year of studying literature? He promises to answer all the questions I have about literature, the study of literature, and literary criticism, and he does so in a highly readable style, in essays which started their life as talks.
The only thing that bugs me is that the one book I was hoping to read first, "The Anatomy of Criticism", has apparently been lost in the storeroom. I think instead of bemoaning that fact, I shall visit the bookshop next door and spend some birthday money on buying it.
