A vague feeling of uneasiness befalls the Grammarian

I read the news today, oh boy; there were no holes anywhere, but there was a picture in an article that made me queasy.
It has nothing to do with football, and everything with German grammar. Here's the article, and this is the picture.

It makes me shiver. Am I completely wrong to feel this way, is there a new rule about this?

Whither the weather?

The weather is frightning,
and thunder and lightning
seem to be having their way,
but as far as I'm concerned it's a lovely day.

There's a storm passing us by off in the southwest, and I can see the lightning from my window. What's more, there's rain in the air, and there's nothing as refreshing as the temperatures dropping down from the mid-30s, with wind, and the smell of rain.
Sadly, I have to close the window soon - talk about storm!
