Hooray, hooray...
Aug. 10th, 2005 06:30 pm... I'm throwing stuff away!
I was searching for something the other day, hunting through the cupboard where I thought it would be, and all of a sudden I found myself emptying the cupboard of its contents, sorting through the things that have accumulated there, and actually, to my horror, throwing things away which I don't need any more.
This led to my living room floor now being strewn with kibble, video tapes that I probably won't ever watch again, and other such matter.
Then I spent a few hours in the cellar, again sorting through and throwing things away, such as ten-year-old class notes, instruction manuals for equipment which doesn't exist any more, and the like. I now have shelf space in the cellar once again and can make some room upstairs.
There were also some unexpected finds, such as a recording of a long-ago band rehearsal (laughably bad; reminds me how far we've progressed since then), or three-quarters of the 1997 movie, "Conceiving Ada", a history / science fiction mix about Ada Augusta Byron King, Countess of Lovelace, potentially the worlds first computer programmer, and a woman of today, working on a computer program which involves artificial intelligence and the tapping into history. Fascinating stuff, and I'd already forgotten about it.
Since the tape only has three-quarters of the movie on it, I'm throwing it away and will try to get it on DVD.
The things we do to get rid of our computer game addiction.
