A Caney Creek High School dad is fired up because the Conroe Independent School District uses the book "Fahrenheit 451" as classroom reading material.

Banning "Fahrenheit 451" from a school curriculum. I despair. Words fail me.

I notice he hasn't actually read the book himself, probably because the only picture's on the cover and they use big words like 'and' or 'ignorant twit'.

So what, people should be shielded from certain books until when... retirement? I need to get drunk on chocolate liquors in quiet despair. The bible's full of wierd stuff, too, like a night on crack, ban it! O_o

I read "Fahrenheit 451" in high school. Brilliant novel. Loved it. After we read the book and had class discussions for several days, we watched the 1966 film directed by François Truffaut. Sure we had a laugh at the dated special effects, and 60's groovy vibe, but our teacher went above and beyond pointing out the themes of conformity, oppression, silencing our freedoms, etc... Not one complaint back then about language or content...oh how times have changed apparently. :(

And they object of the language and content... Okay sheeple, pay no mind to the world around you. Just watch your mindless forms of entertainment on the television as you shelter your precious children from the vile evil in our greatest literary works.

Like Tys, I'm at a loss for words.
