Hm. "Santa". "Satan". Only a typo away...

Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] britishamerican:

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Hot Chocolate, preferably with cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg, hold the cream.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
I think he just sits them under the tree; otherwise, how would he know what to put where when everything is wrapped? Parents need to know what their children are getting, and why should Santa do all the work.
Besides: There is no Santa.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
White lights on tree. No lights on house. Ever.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Yep, every year; it's a tradition where my mum comes from, and slightly different than the British / American tradition.

5. When do you put your decorations up?
About a week before December 24th, or when mum gets around to it. We use decorations sparingly.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
Does bread count as dessert? Because mum bakes this special raisin bread for Christmas, and for Christmas only. Other than that, I'd have to say the also traditional roast bird filled with apples and onions, accompanied by red cabbage and dumplings.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child?
I must have been about seven when we went out to my grandparents. I distinctly remember being the last leaving the flat, and the first back at the door, and somehow, a Christmas stocking had appeared there. I still don't know how my parents managed that.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I don't think I was ever led to believe the lie about Santa. Dinosaurs hatching from little stones, yes, and the dots on a ladybug's back denoting her age, mum was good at telling me those things, but never Santa.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Actually, we all open all gifts on Christmas Eve. Different tradition in Germany.

10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him?
None. There is no Santa! We get to eat the cookies ourselves! ;-)

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
Love it, as long as it's not too much (like a few weeks ago). Dread it when it turns into a wet mushy substance. Dread it when it covers dog doo so you don't notice it until it's too late.

12. Can you ice skate?
I used to be able to years ago, so I guess I still can if you put me on the skates and I have no other option. Like running away.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Favourite gift ever? A candle my father gave me for Christmas 2001.
Favourite gift this year? The new kitchen.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
That, once they're over, I won't have to listen to "Last Christmas" for another year.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
We don't really do desserts in my family, so I'll improvise and say the roasted sugar almonds from the Christmas fair.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Getting the cat out of the Christmas tree.

17. What tops your tree?
The cat.

18. Which do you prefer, Giving or Receiving?
Giving. Up to and including giving without reason, and without wanting something in return.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Carol?
um. They're all Czech. Mi tri kràlove, Pasli ovce valasi, Vánoce pricháseji, etc.

19.b What is your favourite Christmas song?
Emerson Lake & Palmer's "I believe in Father Christmas"

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?
Yuck. Sorry.

21. What is your favorite holiday movie?
"Drei Nüsse für Aschenbroedel" ("Three nuts for Cinderella"), the Czech movie that gets played on TV about six times during the Holidays, and has been for the past thirty years or so. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without it.
